The elementary visual arts curriculum at ACA is designed
to offer a wide range of fun, creative, and challenging
hands-on learning experiences.
All students (K4 – 5th grade) explore
the elements of art: color, line, shape, value, texture,
form and space. Each week, as students attend art
class, they are introduced to a variety of mediums
to create both two and three dimensional projects.
The mediums used, but not limited to, include: pencil,
charcoal, graphite, watercolor, oil pastel, chalk
pastel, marker, crayon, colored pencil, clay, model
magic, papier- mache', wire, fabric, ink, glue, wallpaper,
grid, yarn, string, and a variety of paints. Students
re-create works by famous artists, allowing them to
develop an interest in art appreciation, to learn
about art history and to explore different artistic
styles.
Student art work is displayed in the
elementary halls throughout the school year. An annual
art show is also held to exhibit each student's work.
Students choose from their personal portfolios their
favorite artwork to display in the art show. Students
also are given numerous opportunities throughout the
year to participate in various art competitions sponsored
by the Montgomery Museum of Fine arts as well as by
local and state organizations. ACA's elementary art
program desires to glorify God in its daily activities.
We strive to educate the whole child, mentally, physically,
and spiritually.
