Alabama Christian Academy’s Theater Department
has grown tremendously this year. Students are having many opportunities
to explore and improve their talents. In the beginning of this
school year, theater students participated in a competition
called the Walter Trumbauer Theater Festival. At this festival
there were multiple categories of competition. Along with excellent
individual performances, students also took a one-act musical
called Lavender Girl. They received a superior rating for this
performance. Many of the students earned the chance to go to
Trumbauer State at Troy University where they also received
superior ratings. During the first few days of March, a small
group of talented students traveled to Orlando to the Southeastern
Theater Conference where they auditioned and gathered information
from a variety of art schools across the nation. This year’s
spring musical will be Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella”.
This production will include a large number of students of varying
ages, including elementary students. The dates for “Cinderella”
are: April 20th – 22nd. We hope to have a great show and want
everyone to come out and support these students as they exhibit
their incredible talents.
