The
philosophy of ACA is that the Technology
Lab should enhance the activities
of the classroom instructor by integrating
the subject matter being taught with
computer skills.
This belief is especially
evident in the projects that are researched
and presented in 3rd - 5th grades
which utilize various presentation
software programs. Conducting the
lab this way encourages cooperative
work, the development of higher level
thinking skills, and increased proficiency
in problem solving.
Students throughout
the school are exposed each week to
many aspects of technology. The Technology
Lab includes 14 wireless laptops and
10 desktop computers. Each class receives
technology instruction once per week
as well as attending individual student
lab times as their schedule allows.
The lab is also available for teachers
to use with their classrooms on special
projects. In addition to the lab,
students utilize the computer banks
in each classroom for Accelerated
Reader, a school-wide reading education
program which encourages students
to read novels independently. Finally,
there is a bank of computers in the
Math Lab which students attend on
a weekly basis.
