As a non-profit institution we are continually looking for avenues to raise funds for day-to-day operations, facility improvement, faculty development, curriculum enhancements, athletics and other school activities. In addition, we must rely on “capital campaigns” to raise funds for major campus projects. Recently we have been introduced to a way of raising some funds for Alabama Christian Academy that doesn’t involve asking you directly for any money. You can turn your “vacations into donations.” In other words, you can turn your personal travel, business travel, vacations, cruises, car rentals and even special services such as event tickets and sending flowers for any occasion, into donations to Alabama Christian Academy. Each booked trip or service produces commissions from the hotels, airlines, cruise lines, and rental cars agencies. A significant portion of these commissions is then paid to ACA as royalties. ACA has been provided a “private label” booking engine for use to generate an additional source of funds. This booking engine uses the same technology and provides the same features and prices as other online booking engines such as Expedia, Orbitz, and Travelocity. With 85% of personal travel booked online we are not asking our constituents to do anything you are uncomfortable doing or are not already doing. You’ll be getting a great deal on all things you purchase: airfare, cruises, hotels, rental cars, vacation packages, and more. I have personally used the website to book hotels and airfare recently, and I was very pleased with how easy the site was to use and how competitive the prices were. It was especially nice to know I was contributing to ACA as well and that I was able to do so without any additional money out of my pocket.
